This is some of the stash that will be used to create quilts.
Since 2013, over 600 quilts and pillowcases were  donated annually to the campers and families who attended a weekend family camp or summer session at  Flying Horse Farms.

We have also donated some permanent gifts to the camp: aprons for the Kitchen Crew Volunteers,  quilts and decorative throw pillows for the Doctors' and Nurses' apartments in the Wellnest and for the examining rooms; quilts for Seasonal Staff Cabin Counselors.

Yards and yards of fabric are needed to make all the quilts. For the 2016 camping season we need to have 600 quilts to dress the beds. Each quilt takes about 8 yards, for the top, binding and back. So that would be....8 X 600= 4800 yards of fabric. Each quilt also needs a little over 3 yards of batting. This is just 45 yards of fabric. Long way to go.

Many ways to volunteer.

                 * Preparing fabrics for use by pressing                                                    out the wrinkles.
*Fabrics are cut into pieces for the designs.
*Volunteers work together to stitich, tie and knot the layers together.
*Machine quilting is done on some quilts.

Threading needles for the stitchers is a great help!

Binding is attached first by machine stitching, then turned and stitched on  by hand.
